An RO system can be part of a treatment solution for some well-water sources, but the correct answer depends on the actual water. Wells can differ greatly in sediment, hardness, iron, dissolved solids, odour and microbiological conditions.
Test and inspect first
A basic assessment helps the installer understand visible sediment and readings such as TDS or pH. Unusual results may require a suitable laboratory test or additional pre-treatment. No single domestic unit should be presented as suitable for every well.
Protecting the RO system
A sediment pre-filter reduces visible particles before water enters the main unit. Heavy sediment or other source-water conditions may require additional treatment and more frequent maintenance.
Ask the installer
Share the location, water source, recent test information and photographs of visible staining or sediment. The installer should confirm pressure, drainage, power, placement and any extra work before making a final recommendation.
